For those who are severely affected then their life can be hell, the feelings of stress can be particularly debilitating and begin to effect almost every aspect of your day to day life.
There are however many ways in which you are able to combat stress, there are many techniques that can be learned alone in the comfort of your own home or by taking a course. Here are some of the most common stress management techniques that can be used at anytime and basically anywhere to enable you to relax more quickly and easily.
Meditation
The easiest form of managing stress is the ancient technique of Chinese meditation, meditation is one factor of Traditional Chinese medicine and is a form which is easy to pick up and learn and will last you a lifetime and give you all that is needed to combat stress. While there are many forms of mediation the simplest can be performed by anyone, it involves nothing more than using your own breathing. While the technique sounds very simple it is one of the most effective for combating stress and panic attacks and can be used anywhere.
Begin by sitting comfortably with loose clothing, gently allow your eyes to close and take a deep breath in through your nose, pause for a second and then allow the air to gently escape your lips slowly. Continue breathing this way while concentrating on your breathing, what it feels like as the air goes in through your nose and what it feels like as it leaves your lips. This is the quickest and easiest way to let go of stress and relax. Once you have mastered this technique it can be done anywhere and at anytime, even standing with your eyes open.
Visualization
Another technique that comes from Traditional Chinese medicine is visualization. This is another method by which you are able to quickly relax once having learned the technique. Visualization can be performed alongside the breathing technique which is listed above, this is the easiest method, just relying on feeling your own breathing and visualizing it flowing throughout your body and around your organs. The whole objective to visualization is just going into yourself and letting all other thoughts and feelings go. Therefore you let your stress go and forget about what was bothering you, you are then able to reach a state of total peace with yourself.
Affirmations
Another popular method for relieving stress is the use of affirmations; these are positive statements that you use to reinforce yourself. When used to combat stress you could use such words as “let it go”, “I am calm and relaxed” or “my mind is at peace” affirmations can then be used throughout the day and at anytime when you feel the signs and symptoms of stress beginning to build up inside of you.
